The Zion Natural History Association (ZNHA) is a non-profit organization established in 1931 to support education, research, publication and other programs for the benefit of Zion National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and Pipe Spring National Monument. Financial support by ZNHA members combines with the sales from our bookstores to provide the parks with approximately $300,000 in aid annually. The educational arm of ZNHA is the Zion Canyon Field Institute (ZCFI) which provides dozens of hands-on one- to three-day seminars each year.

The stories told in this publication are of a specific group in a specific place during a specific time. This book is a result of oral interviews conducted by Zion Canyon Field Institute and Zion Natural History Association with people who lived in the canyon between 1910 and 1934. Gain insight into this time of change when isolated pioneers were met with what would be the future Zion National Park.

Between 1935 and 1943 the WPA's Federal Art Project printed over two million posters in 35,000 different designs to stir the public's imagination for education, theatre, health, safety, and travel. Due to their fragile nature only two thousand posters have survived to this day; less than one tenth of one percent! These rare images were rescued and restored from black and white photos beginning in 1993 by Ranger Doug. All posters are hand-pulled silkscreen 13 1/2" x 19" approximate image size on acid free 80 lb. cover. (Poster finished size 15" x 20 1/2".)
